Interior Design Trends we’re keeping an eye out for in 2024

As we head into 2024, we’re taking a look at some of the biggest design trends that could be popping up at a newly renovated venue near you.

Artificial Intelligence

Given all the recent focus around AI, we’re expecting to see a lot more integrations happening from check-in solutions to smart speakers and futuristic designs happening throughout.

This might look like softer, more neutral and fluid forms as well as clean angles, bold accents (think hints of blue and pink LEDs) and even biophilic design (more on that below) implementing across plans and renovations.

Soothing Atmospheres

In a digital first age, it’s no surprise that 60% of people report feeling “overstimulated” by technology.

We think this will lead into a more simplistic design focus around technology that is multi-functional such as comfortable chairs to help you unwind. These chairs will allow your body and mind to recharge, as much as your phone, smart watch or laptop.

Consumer behaviour is leaning more towards creating soothing atmospheres from less technology to a more holistic look and feel.

Biophilic Design

We mentioned this above, and it’s a trend we’re seeing more and more.

The term Biophilic Design refers to a concept where people are searching for a more direct link to nature, whether this be through location, colours or even furnishing and fixtures.

The idea is creating a holistic and natural environment in an urbanised area. Examples of this can include greener colour palettes, an increased use of plants and foliage within designs and even more natural materials such as wood and water in key footfall areas.

We see this being a huge trend in 2024 and beyond!

Terracotta

Not only does this material complement the above trend very well, it also aligns with Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2024; Peach Fuzz.

It’s a warm and welcome shade that feels natural, offers historical importance having been used for thousands of years across the world and it provides a unique tactile material that will appeal to guests.

Used appropriately with the right colour scheme, we see terracotta finishes and colours making their mark on the interior design world in 2024.

Vintage Art, Chandeliers and Finishings

There is an increased focus on sustainability and guests are becoming more comfortable and also more aware of using materials that aren’t brand new.
A prime example of this is having a feature light that offers a story of the city’s culture. By reinstalling original features, or those that tell a historic tale, they might appeal to guests as we see the trend of sustainability increase throughout 2024.

This in turn can only create positive connotations and focus for your design project, and it’s one we can’t wait to see come to life.
