Why your hotel lobby matters just as much as your bedrooms

When thinking about your favourite hotel, we understand that you might prioritise the bedrooms – after all, it is the room your guest will likely spend the most time in… even if they’re not awake for most of it.

That said, at Aspinall Creative we believe that the hotel lobby is just as important and we’re here to tell you why.

First Impressions

Your hotel lobby matters because for all guests (and visitors of guests!) it’s the first room they’ll see when they enter your hotel. It sets the tone for the entire stay and as we all know first impressions matter.

When you work with us, we ensure that your guests feel welcome and safe as soon as they enter your hotel.

Our interior design team will always create a layout that allows for ease of travel, clear directions and of course a public area that has been finished to the highest standard.

Your hotel lobby is the heart of your hotel and for that reason it’s as important to us that your guests feel they belong, as much as it’s important to you.

Local Communities

For many hotel owners, having a centrally located venue – especially in city centres and built up areas, places a key focus on encouraging interaction with the local community.

This can range from using locally sourced produce in the kitchens, showcasing art within rooms and public spaces from local artists, using local manufacturers to produce more sustainably and environmentally friendly materials in the shape of recycled fabrics and fixtures, and of course where possible, using local staff who can offer valuable insight into the surroundings for guests unfamiliar with the area.

By focusing your hotel lobby on accentuating the resources and skills of the local community, it not only improves the green footprint but it also offers guests a richer and more informed experience.

Appropriate Zoning

You may think that the primary purpose of a hotel lobby is to provide a check-in/check-out area for guests but we believe there’s more to it than that.

Yes, upon arrival guests will need to check-in and collect the keys to their room but what happens when they’re already staying there? We believe a hotel lobby should also cater for existing reservations.

By creating clear zones, you’re allowing everyone who passes through to find their place. From arriving and departing right through to working and meeting friends – having clear zones that ensure guests don’t feel cramped or even left out can really help to ensure your guests are fully relaxed when visiting your hotel.

Seating

We create our hotel lobbies with everyone in mind, which is why we always recommend comfortable and accessible seating throughout the lobby.

This can be used by guests who need a moment to gather themselves after a long journey to you, or even for those meeting friends, family and colleagues also staying at your venue.

Some guests may even prefer to work from the lobby. It can provide a different level of sociable comfort that the bedrooms cannot.

We’ll always work with you to understand the behaviour and priorities of your guests, from fitting Wi-Fi and charging ports, to plush furnishings and even expertly placed mirrors for that final outfit check of the night.

Refreshments

Your hotel might have an exceptional restaurant, serving delicious food and drink from breakfast right through to the last night cap – however your hotel lobby should also provide provisions for guests passing through.

It’s important to us that we provide you with the space and functionality to provide things such as fresh water, and even welcome drinks and snacks to your guests. For us, this is another way that your hotel lobby can create an exceptional experience and a first impression that will keep guests coming back time and time again.

If you’re ready to create a hotel lobby experience that stands above the rest and ensures your guests feel welcomed from the moment they arrive, let’s have a chat about your refurbishment plans and how our interior designers can help you meet your goals.
