Pantone colour of the year 2024

Every year, the team at Pantone announce their “Colour of the Year”.

Pantone is a company known for its colour standards and development within the design industry. Many interior design firms, including us at Aspinall Creative, utilise the Pantone colour wheel – even using it as the golden standard for tones and hues.

This year, they’ve announced that “Peach Fuzz” or “PANTONE 12-1023” for all you technical designers, is the colour of 2024.

In case you’ve missed it, we’re here to tell you all about it AND how we, at Aspinall Creative, plan on using it over the next 12 months.

Soft and Subtle

The first thing to note about the 2024 colour is that the shade is a soft and subtle peach shade. Typically you might associate the hue with silks and satins – the kind of fabrics that hold romantic connotations when touched.

It’s a mix between pink and orange, but neither tone overpowers the other. It’s a colour that invites warmth – with Pantone even using the line “Embrace the Warmth”; which is something we think the colour does perfectly.

Obviously, it makes us think of peaches, but also vintage fabrics and whimsical springs and summers.

The main message from Pantone is that in the current world we’re in, it’s “…a reflection of the basic human needs and desires that many may be feeling in the midst of challenging times.” We strongly feel it’s a move towards having more empathy and knowledge of the feelings of those around us.

At Aspinall Creative, we feel it moves towards creating a stronger sense of community through tenderness and collaboration – something that as hospitality interior designs we know is incredibly important in our design projects.

Communicable Spaces

Our primary goal when creating and renovating community spaces is that the new design and layout ensures guests and visitors feel welcomed.

This can be done through the flow of a space, the amount of light (artificial or natural) and in this case, through the colour used.

Peach Fuzz is warm and welcoming, without being overpowering. It offers a bright and comforting hue that we feel works well as both accent features and full colour schemes.

Our team will be looking for opportunities to implement this inviting colour into our interiors, from soft furnishings such as pillows and curtains to large feature walls and bold painted staircases.

Bedrooms

This year’s Pantone colour offers a chance for internal reflection. Leatric Eiseman, Pantone’s Colour Institute’s Executive Director stated that Peach Fuzz “…emphasises its capacity to bring comfort and inner peace, impacting our well-being and inner serenity.” and it’s for this exact reason that we feel it’s the perfect accompaniment for new bedrooms being refurbished in 2024.

Who doesn’t want to check into a hotel, and find that their room offers them a chance to unwind in a calm and serene environment whilst also nurturing their own sense of self. Sounds like the perfect night to us.

Paintings and Decorations

There’s no denying that Peach Fuzz, for all its soft and subtle hues, is a bold colour. It’s making a bold statement and for some interiors a full schematic overhaul just isn’t quite right.

This is why our team is also excited to use hints of the colour throughout our upcoming projects, from abstract paintings and fabric trims on cushions, right through to door frames. All with the intention of bringing a gentle warmth to more intimate spaces.
